Supergirl has cast a transgender actress to play a superhero. The CW series, which stars Melissa Benoist, has had multiple fan-acclaimed LGBT plot arcs over the years.  But the show will be taking another big step in its upcoming fourth season – by adding a transgender superhero to the cast. FILM: “Birds of Prey” DC Film to Feature Lesbian Hero

A new DC film is set to feature a lesbian superhero for the first time in the franchise’s history. Birds of Prey, a spin-off from Academy Award-winning film Suicide Squad, will see Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn assemble an all-female group of heroes, according to TheWrap.
