Star Wars Fan Petitions for Gay Character to Honor Orlando Victim

A Star Wars superfan whose best friend was murdered in the Orlando massacre is petitioning the powers that be behind the sci-fi films to dedicate an LGBT character in memory of his friend and all who lost their lives at Pulse. News: Deadpool 2 Filming Soon

Producers have confirmed that Deadpool 2 is moving forward, and that it will begin filming early next year. The film company previously confirmed that a sequel to the popular superhero flick Deadpool has began production. The company announced the news after it was confirmed director Tim Miller will return with his the original’s entire creative team. Lesbian Animated Film “Strange Frame” Coming

The world’s first animated lesbian sci-fi film is headed our way. As SheWired.com is reporting, the first clips of “Strange Frame,” from producer, director and animator G.B. Hajim and writer Shelley Doty will premiere at Bent-Con, an LGBT sci-fi and comic convention, in Los Angeles on December 3. According to the project’s Facebook page the film takes place in the 28th century when “humanity has spread across the solar system and re-invented itself to mesh with its new environment.” Full Story at the Huffington Post

After CBS’ announcement that a new Star Trek series is planned for 2017, a new petition from The Queer Frontier is asking the network to put an LGBT character in the captain’s chair. “Star Trek has an incredible, indelible, history spanning 50 years on television and in cinema. Idina Menzel, the actress who voices Elsa in Disney’s “Frozen,” voiced her support for the online campaign to give the Ice Queen a girlfriend in the upcoming sequel, according to Entertainment Tonight. Stopped on the red carpet at Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards, Menzel said the online campaign is “great” and that it’s up to Disney to figure out the details.
