I’m not sure who to ascribe today’s topic to – I mangled my notes on this one, but it’s a fun one – so if it was yours, please step up and tell me!
Anyhow, it’s a fun one:
In the US, we’ve had a black president, and soon we’ll probably have a female president. What about a gay president, one that’s openly (sorry, Abe) on the LGBT spectrum?
I am the first to admit that I’m not a big politics person. While people are arguing about left and right, I’m still trying to figure out how we can have a civilization more closely aligned with Star Trek.
That being said, I would love to read about gay presidents. How would you feel about reading about a futuristic world, sort of like “Articles of the Federation” by DeCandido (guy’s hilarious), where the presidential figure is gay? Would you be into that?
So how about it? Will the first queer president be gay or lesbian or bi or trans or…? Look into your crystal ball and tell us. And what ramifications will it have? Or will they be forced to avoid everything LGBT to “prove” they represent everyone?
