In the category of classic heroic fantasy, which do you prefer, ancient or modern? LOTR would be ancient for example and Heinlein’s Glory Road would be modern fantasy for instance. An example of LGBT Fantasy would be Brandon Fox’s “Pledged to Magic” series as an alternate history fantasy series, quite erotic.
And what are your favorite examples?

I used to read the ancient types, such as The King of Elfland’s Daughter, by Lord Dunsany, or the Conan stories by Robert E. Howard, but I might not even pick them up now. I’m all modern all the time. I don’t know quite why. I know I love stuff with modern problems and modern props, such as guns rather than swords. Good examples are the Immortal Vegas series by Jenn Stark and the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. I don’t particularly go looking for LGBT stories, and sex scenes bore me. (Yeah, Charley Davidson is filled with them, but the story is good enough I put up with them.)
