FOR READERS
Today’s reader topic comes from QSFer MK Mancos:
Ever met your fave authors in person? What was it like? Did you faint? Were they what you hoped for?
If you had a negative interaction, please do not mention them by name.
Writers: This is a reader chat – you are welcome to join it, but please do not reference your own works directly. Thanks!
I was very fortunate to meet one of my favorite writers, Isabel Allende, at a book signing and interview last November at the Brooklyn Public Library. She was sharp, witty, personable and gracious. Everything I’d imagined she would be. And she took the extra time to field questions from admirers even after the official event was over. I’d put my hand up again and again during the interview, only to be ignored by the moderator. Imagine my surprise when Ms. Allende later not only answered my question, but seemed to take genuine interest and took her sweet time in answering it – face to face! It is a moment I will never forget.
