FOR READERS

Today’s reader topic comes from QSFer Hank T. Cannon:

“Comic books, graphic novels, web comics: what kind of non-prose SF&F works are you into? Do any of them have a particular QUILTBAG focus? Share!”

This topic is the perfect lead-in to our Graphic Novel Week, coming in October – we’ll be announcing our week-long line-up of interviewees soon!

  1. I was a huge ‘Naruto’ fan, plus I loved ‘Attack on Titan’, ‘Legal Drug’, ‘Clover’, ‘xxxholic’, and ‘Pet Shop of Horrors’, although my absolute favorite manga were ‘Tokyo Babylon’ and ‘X 1999’. I loved the fact that the villain was dating the hero in ‘TB’, although things ended quite tragically, when he revealed who he really was. Ah, the difficulty of a secret identity! :)

For western comics, ‘The Sandman’ remains my absolute favorite, although I’ve been really enjoying Scott Snyder’s recent ‘Batman’ comics. As well as some of the recent ‘Batwoman’, ‘Batgirl’, and ‘Nightwing’ comics. I’ve also got a soft spot for ‘Arkham Asylum’ and ‘Robin: A Hero Reborn’, which go back to the early ’90s.
