FOR WRITERS & READERS
Today’s writer topic comes from QSFer Denise Dechene:
My question is why don’t we see more representation of people with disabilities esp in SciFi or shifter books? I’m not talking blind or deaf I’m speaking more towards loss of limbs, Down’s syndrome, MD, stroke etc?
I think I’ve read the most characters with lost limbs in Omegaverse books. I’m currently writing a m/m with a blind hero, but it will be a contemporary not a science fiction. And there do seem to be more books with deaf or blind characters. There’s a new series with characters who have phobias by an author I sadly can’t remember the pen name of, but that’s also contemporary. Darn, I thought, I could think of a whole bunch, but they’re almost all omegaverse or contemporary.
