The door was opened by the most gorgeous man I had ever seen. He wore a hotel towel around his waist, abundant chest hair decorating his six-pack abs. An amazing scent wafted over me because the blond was apparently my mate.
My inner wolf had been seeking him our entire life, only to find him in a bedroom with another man.
The handsome brunet was naked, the corner of a white sheet strategically draped over his lap as he sat up in the bed.
I did not display my turbulent emotions as I tried to silence my wolf. As a waiter I had seen many weird things and learned to hide my true feelings. No one wanted to be laughed at when answering the door half-naked with a body that had never seen the inside of a gym but revealed a weakness for desserts. This man, my mate, looked toned and fit.
He moved aside and let me enter the room with the cart. After I’d managed to slow my racing heart, I asked, “Would you like me to open and pour your champagne into glasses, sirs, or do you want to do it yourself?”
My mate, who was several inches taller and at least fifty pounds heavier than me, seemed to be at a loss for words. No doubt his wolf had smelled me too. He was less successful in hiding his emotions, they were all over his face. Surprise. Longing. Regret. He looked at his male lover in bed and then back at me.
I just raised my eyebrows nonchalantly and said, “Sirs?”
The man in the bed stayed silent and my mate stammered, “Uh, just, uh, leave it. Can you do that?”
“Certainly, sir.” I stepped back quickly and shut the door. Usually, I would have waited for a tip. This time, all I wanted was to be out of that room immediately.
I leaned back against the wall, and took some deep breaths as tears welled in my eyes. He’d been with another man. Someone who he was sharing champagne with, I didn’t even want to think about the whipped cream. I felt sick and wanted to go home, but my workday had just started.
