About The Book

Wolf shifter Sheriff Jack Ulger and cougar shifter Travis Kuger protect the shifters and their human allies living in Haven, Montana. They have known each other for almost two decades but weren’t always friends.

One Halloween night, as teenagers, that changed when Travis saved them both from an abandoned mill and the ghosts haunting it.Years later, it’s Halloween again, and Travis never shared the ghostly experience with anyone, least of all the skeptic Jack. But he soon regrets the omission when Jack becomes trapped in the same abandoned mill while trying to find two lost kids.

Jack must now protect the children, fight off a spiritual attack, and find a way to freedom. Travis knows something is wrong and enlists the help of their friends, and he can only hope they’ll be in time to save Jack from the dark entities.

Second Edition with revised text. Sequel to Blind Devotion.

The Review

Ghosts of Halloween Past is a sequel to Blind Devotion, in terms of the main protagonists of the third book in the series The Shifter Chronicles.

The story here fills in the events at the haunted mill from Blind Devotion which took place nineteen years earlier. It also covers events of the current Halloween in Haven, with the mill continuing to have a sinister effect on the unwary.

Jack hates Halloween with a passion, but Travis quite likes it, as do the rest of the inhabitants of Haven, with the exception of most of the wolves.

As the author says in her ‘Note to Readers,’ it takes place after parts 5 and 14. You may do well to wait until you’ve read those parts as there are a couple of minor spoilers – references to major events covered in more detail elsewhere so, Or you can just file them away and get on with i, like I did.

Ghosts of Halloween Past is a revealing tale on a number levels, as it shows how close Jack and Travis are getting. An enjoyable read with a nice dose of menace and excitement, perfect for Halloween Season!

The Reviewer

Tony is an Englishman living amongst the Welsh and the Other Folk in the mountains of Wales. He lives with his partner of thirty-six years, four dogs, two ponies, various birds, and his bees. He is a retired lecturer and a writer of no renown but that doesn’t stop him enjoying what he used to think of as ‘sensible’ fantasy and sf. He’s surprised to find that if the story is well written and has likeable characters undergoing the trails of life, i.e. falling in love, falling out of love, having a bit of nooky (but not all the time), fending off foes, aliens and monsters, etc., he’ll be happy as a sandperson who has just offloaded a wagon of sand at the going market price. As long as there’s a story, he’s in. He aims to write fair and honest reviews. If he finds he is not the target reader he’ll move on.
