News emerged from the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour on Wednesday that CBS All Access’ forthcoming Star Trek series, Star Trek Discovery, will feature a diverse set of new characters, including an all new gay character and a female lead. A Star Wars superfan whose best friend was murdered in the Orlando massacre is petitioning the powers that be behind the sci-fi films to dedicate an LGBT character in memory of his friend and all who lost their lives at Pulse.
