DC’s most iconic gay superhero couple Apollo and Midnighter are returning for a new joint series. Written by Steve Orlando and drawn by Fernando Blanco, the comic book will follow on from the Midnighter solo series which concluded last month. Captain America and Bucky Barnes are finally going to have gay sex, but it won’t exactly be canon. Following the excitement over gay porn versions of X-Men: Apocalypse and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it was only a matter of time we would have an XXX version of Captain America: Civil War. The blockbuster film and TV universe – which spans from Iron Man and the Avengers to Guardians of the Galaxy – has portrayed hundreds of characters and dozens of superheroes – but is lacking in LGBT diversity. After a recent furor over the untimely death of Lexa in the US apocalyptic drama ‘The 100’, fans of the show have called for more realistic representation of lesbian romance in media. Aza Comics is hoping to buck the trend by creating lesbian superheroes that won’t die so quickly.
