For Writers: The Writing Wall

FOR WRITERS

Today’s writer topic comes from QSFer Lex Chase:

Lets share our tips for when you hit the writing wall.

How do you relieve stress? Conquer the self-doubt? Or when the words just aren’t coming do you change your technique (like going analog?) or get out of your setting?

Like leaving your house, going to a cafe, taking a long bubble bath, or such.

  1. This happens to me often, as my ‘day job’ dictates when I have the time to write. Unfortunately, those hours (early morning on week-ends) do not always correspond to when I am thoroughly engaged with what I am writing. For me, it’s not something that can be turned on and off at will. When I hit a wall, I just shut my laptop and do something else. Otherwise, there are two alternatives: stare at a blank screen for several hours or waste those hours writing total crap that I will delete during my next ‘session’.
