QSFer Grace R. Duncan has a new MM paranormal omegaverse book out: Breaking the Rules.
Hunter Black is a Dream Alpha—an alpha wolf shifter for hire who helps omegas get through their heats. After three years, he knows it’s time to quit when he realizes he’s lost his detachment when he sees a picture of the son he helped an omega have—and signed a contract to stay away from. But he agrees to take a final job to help one last omega fulfill a dream to get pregnant. And one look at the beautiful, shy Cody Michaels has him throwing out his personal rules.
Cody, alone and tired of dating asshole alphas, decides it’s time to make his own family. The incredible four days he spends with Hunter has Cody falling in love with the one person in the world he can’t have. Hunter is everything he wants—funny, caring, and accepting when he confesses he’s a submissive. Instead, the dominant Hunter stuns him with an interest in playing.
When Cody finds out he didn’t get pregnant, he’s devastated. Hunter, despite the agency’s non-compete rules, commits to helping him until he conceives, and they continue to fall in love. At the same time, Hunter is desperately looking for work now that he’s no longer a Dream Alpha, hoping that if he can get out of the contract, he’d have something to offer Cody.
But when Cody discovers it’s the lack of job, rather than the contract keeping them apart, he makes it perfectly clear what Hunter can do with his hangups. Now it’s up to Hunter to figure out how to fix the mess he’s made and convince Cody he really can make Cody’s dreams come true—forever.

Excerpt
Before I could descend into more panic, the doorbell rang. I wiped my sweaty palms on my jeans and hurried to the door. I checked through the peephole, just enough to know it was him, though I couldn’t see well.
I pulled open the door and my mouth dropped open. Holy shit! “You’re even more gorgeous in person.” I slapped my hand over my mouth, my entire face heating. I closed my eyes. “I did not just say that out loud. I’m not that much of a dork,” I muttered to myself.
“Your picture didn’t do you justice, either.”
I swallowed and forced myself to open my eyes. “Um… thank you? Yes, thank you.” I sighed. “Um… hi. I’m, um, Cody.”
He smiled and I forgot how to breathe. A smile that incredible should be illegal. “Hunter Black, nice to meet you, Cody.” He held his hand out and it took me a minute to stop staring at him and shake it.
“Oh my God, I’m acting like such an idiot,” I mumbled.
He chuckled. “Hardly. Great shirt, by the way.”
I looked down, having forgotten what I’d chosen. A shiny dagger covered the front of my shirt with the words “Rogues do it from behind.” written over it and my latest video game’s logo underneath. “Oh my God,” I nearly moaned. Really? Was my subconscious trying to sabotage me? “What was I thinking?” I mumbled. Louder, I said, “Thank you,” though I knew my face was turning even redder. I stepped back. “Would you like to come in?”
“I actually have a few things in my car to get. I just wanted to make sure I had the right place and you were home.” The smile appeared again and my brain took leave once more. I was going to have to ask him to stop doing that or I’d never get a damned thing said. “Is the spot there okay? Is it reserved or permit or anything?” He pointed behind himself to the street.
I blinked at him, then shook my head hard. He raised his eyebrows and I realized he thought I was saying no. “Uh, it’s fine. No permit or anything. Um… you know what? I’m just going to go, uh, crawl into a hole and die instead. Yeah. That sounds… about right.”
He threw his head back and laughed. “That won’t do. I can’t get you pregnant if you’re dead.” He shook his head. “How about this,” he said, that devastating smile still in place. “Do you have coffee? I could use a cup.”
I flat refused to think about him talking about getting me pregnant. I’d completely pass out. “Coffee? Oh! Coffee. Yes. I’ll go make some. Just, uh, come in when you have your stuff.” And with that, I turned around and, quite literally, ran into the kitchen.
