Excerpts
From “Galactic Honey” by H. M. Evans
Finally, Dorsata was in sight.
Xandri wasn’t sure what she had been expecting. Didn’t bees need flowers, plants – green and colourful things? Maybe something like the biodomes that populated most of the other planets and moons in this galaxy. A grey, unremarkable rock was certainly not what she expected the home of the mythological bees and their keeper to look like.
“Are you sure this is it?” she asked, glancing over at Tor.
Tor was in their usual position in the passenger seat. Slouched down, arms crossed, and legs raised with their boots resting on the console, despite Xandri’s hundreds of reprimands. “Yup.”

From “Trial of Twilight” by Aimee Donnellan
Opportunity comes not with arrival, but absence. Lyra knew it better than the others, that the herbalist, Sage, and her protectors had not returned. Sage is her closest friend. They’re three days overdue.
Lyra paces outside the Elder’s tent, the tent that will one day be hers. Right behind her ankles, her other half follows, the tiny white tiger known as Luna.
Why do you think they’re going to send us? Luna asks in her head. They’ve been bonded since Lyra found her, in her true form, a green-haired toddler facing down a tiger four times her size.
Lyra still bears the scar from Luna’s claws across her cheek, long red lines against pale skin.

From “The Love Algorithm” by Jaydell
In a world that ticked with the precision of a trillion synchronised metronomes, humanity had become a race of clockwork hearts. The city of Corelia sprawled like a vast circuit board, its orderly streets buzzing with the grey humdrum of existence. People, now reduced to mathematical equations and pie charts, moved with the calculated choreography of a grand algorithm.
It was in this surreal symphony of efficiency that Reginald “Reggie” Odington stood, a forlorn figure amidst the cold, chrome spires of the Love-o-Matic Centre. The building loomed like a sentinel of mathematical tyranny, its facade adorned with the idolised graph of the ‘Perfect Love Curve’, a shape so smooth it could lull a statistician to sleep.
Author Bio
Anna (they/them) is a queer author and poet based in Naarm/Melbourne. They love to read and write cosy fantasy/sci-fi both in poetry and prose. If not writing or at work, they will most likely be reading, walking around their local area day-dreaming about their next novel idea, or spending time with their two cats – Nautica (Marketing Manager) and Mahnoy (Snack Supervisor).
While at home, Anna will most likely be drinking tea, thinking about making a cup of tea, or scolding themself because they’ve remembered another mug of cold, half drunk tea which they have unintentionally sacrificed to the tea goddess.
