Erik Lehnsher (Magneto). “All those years wasted fighting each other, Charles.” :'( I’ve always parsed them as a couple, and some of the scenes really play into that. They’re one of my main examples of how internalized homophobia can ruin someone’s chance at happiness. And Clark/Lex in Smallville kept making me think “OMG I went to highschool with boys like this, someone take them behind the barn and hand them a copy of The Joy of Gay Sex.” That’s why it’s important to me to explore hero/villain pairings where they find other solutions. Because being gay shouldn’t mean being miserable.
For a canonically recognized example of gay hero/villain hijinks, a favorite is the Annihilator from Young Protectors. He is really heinous, but so hot too.
