New Release: The Proposal for Unity – C.J. Dragon

The Proposal for Unity - C.J. Dragon

QSFer C.J. Dragon has a new MM sci-fi romance out, Daranii Alliance book 1: The Proposal for Unity.

There was peace at last between Earth and Daran, despite the mixed feelings on both planets. At least Jon and Talin could visit now as allies, instead of former enemies, not to mention the trade opportunities waiting to grow.

Jon should have known his joy would be short-lived.

A call from his father informed him of a plague overtaking Earth, killing whomever it touches. Warned away by his parents, Jon is determined to do whatever he needs to aid them.

Daran answers Earth’s call for help, but now it is a race against time.

Leaving for Earth, neither Jon nor Talin know if they will survive, or if they will ever be able to return to Daran.

Will they be asked to make the ultimate sacrifice to ensure Earth’s survival? Or will a cure be the biggest threat to Jon and Talin’s lives while another enemy lurks in the shadows?

The trip back to the house was made swiftly. Jon idly wondered why trips home were always shorter than trips away, his thoughts turning to time dilation and subjective reality before he chuckled to himself. Talin looked over at him as Jon shook his head.

“Don’t mind me. I’m being silly. I’ll tell you about it later.” He felt the change in altitude as the ship descended. “Home at last.”

Talin distractedly nodded as he slowed their speed. “We will land in the next few minutes. The President’s statement will start shortly.”

Jon sighed as he settled himself into a more upright position in his seat. “Guess we have to watch it, even though I know the ending.”

The house came into view, the landing pad waiting for them. Talin fired the landing thrusters briefly, allowing them to coast into position over the pad, setting the ship down gently. He glanced over at his husband as he shut down the ship’s systems.

“You do not need to watch unless you desire to do so. I must, as I will report what is said to the Council. I, too, know the probable outcome.”

Jon released his harness, stretching tall while standing. “No, I feel it’s my duty as well to watch and listen to what the President says. I’m wondering how she’s going to spin the help Daran has given to Earth. I’m just hoping she mentions no more than she has to.”

Talin finished his ship’s landing checks, then stood, moving to Jon to take his hand. “I hope she is circumspect as well.” They both heard the ramp lowering. Jon grinned up at his husband.

“Natat is ready to go and so am I. C’mon, my Senior, let’s get into the much cooler house, and watch me make history with the President.” Talin gave his hand a squeeze, tugging him out of the cockpit, seeing a waiting Guard, and a lowered ramp.

The Guard gave his Senior and Advocate a bow, then went out first as protocol demanded, despite no danger being evident. They waited until he gave them the ‘all clear’ signal, then left the ship for him to close and secure.

Edward came out of his office as Patricia appeared from the living room when Lanon disarmed the security system, letting them in. Jon gave him a nod, quietly mentioning that Natat was close behind them. Lanon nodded his understanding.

Talin sighed happily as the air conditioning enveloped him, giving his husband a pleased smile.
Edward grinned at his look of bliss.

“I always feel the same when I come in from the heat. I bet Washington, D.C. was hot as hell, too.”
Giving his father-in-law an affectionate smile, Talin nodded. “It was even worse at that location. Fortunately, we were only briefly outside.”

Dulan and Jilar came into the entry, then bowed. Dulan smiled as he looked at the Senior and Advocate, and Jilar followed suit, both murmuring greetings.

Patricia came up beside her husband, glancing between Jon and Talin. “How was the White House? It’s not every day that someone gets to go there.”

Giving her a loving look, Jon motioned for them to retreat to the living room. “We didn’t get to see much, Mom. They herded us into a meeting room.” He waved his head at the couch. “Let’s get settled–the President will be speaking in a few minutes. You’ll get to see me do my thing.”
Patricia looked heavenward. “Your thing, Jon? What ‘thing’ was that?

Jon only grinned as his husband shook his head. “Do not worry, Mother. Jonathan was completely appropriate. The President asked him to personally hand her the samples of Daranii blood to, as I believe, assure everyone that he had custody of it.”

Patricia gave her son a long-suffering look before turning back to Talin. “Thank you for telling me. It’s always a crap shoot whether Jon will behave.”

Jon’s outrage was muffled as his father turned on the vid, and ‘Hail to the Chief’ began to play.
