The Review

Bells and David Jessman have a dinner to attend at Director Carlos Perez’s apartment. David is scared to death, and still wears the marks around his neck from Perez’s abuse, He thinks he’s a coward, but Bells does everything to encourage him and make him realize that he’s not. Once again, Bells makes a promise to David that he will protect him and not let anything happen to him.

Before dinner, Perez demonstrates his “so called power” over Bells in his dungeon.  But no one really knows Bells’ own true power. Even though David has witnessed the nanites’ quick healing, Bells has not fully recovered from the fight with Katana Blue and the Drakuls, and hopes food will help in rebuilding his cybernetic strength.  It doesn’t seem to work, and David starts to notice the change in him.

During dinner, there are multiple interruptions. One is an important phone call from the NeuroTech Board of Directors. They’ve made an offer to David for the valuable work he’s doing. He would be allowed state of the art upgrades for himself and his mind, but in the corporate world, nothing comes without a price. David would not only be able to physically change but he would basically become a mindless automaton, and the Board would know everything about him.

During the entire dinner, Bells has become more and more suspicious of Mae the Kami no Freesky. When he figures out what she’s done, she becomes enraged and reveals what she has planned. The battle is on between Mae and Bells, and he starts to see David in a different light, and the courage that he witnessed before in David.

Will Bells be able to defeat Mae? Will the ever growing danger have him releasing the Beast?  And if Bells and David can survive this chaotic and fatal danger, what kind of future could there be between a neon blue eyed gunwhore and a corp?

Barnette brings the series to a surprising close with a final, explosive, rollercoaster ride of a story. Power 3 is intense, action packed, nerve-racking, and erotic romance. The author doesn’t hold back with the exciting fight scenes, and a surprise that I’ve waited for throughout the series.

Power 3 is a satisfying final book in the series, but I would love to read more about Bells and David.  There’s some ideas expressed in this story that beg exploration: could Bells and David survive in the LCFree? Will David continue on at NeuroTech, and what control would he have? And in what other ways can he help Bells with his cybernetics?

I highly recommend the entire “Through Neon Eyes” series. Barnette’s writing is easy to read and understand, and all of the books are erotically romantic, action-packed and on-the-edge suspenseful. I hope that Barnette will bring Bells and David back in a future book!

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California. Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018. My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen. New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.

I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.

My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012. She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series. Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!

As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.

My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing. I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.

I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews. One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group. Joining her site was such an eye opener. I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.

But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
