“Cloudy skies at noon
A flight of geese
Dancing on wings”
These are the words Jacob Berghoef wrote to accompany this image “Dancing on Wings”, an image inspired by the element; Air. The motion and sound of wings beating manifest in this image against the endless blue. The sky’s blue is reflected in the sea, its watery mirror. There is something like mist and smoke in the movement of the white shapes; transluscent and airy.
I have no wings, but when I think of air, I feel weightless. Often I’ve dreamed of floating, rising, letting go of everything and taking flight.
My thoughts, my ideas, my creativity take flight as well, unbounded, taking me where it will. Air feels like my element; an element in which all things are possible.
As long as I can breathe deeply, I can take in my element, be nourished by it.
If I cannot breathe deeply, if I can only take shallow breaths, if I am congested; I feel as if my thoughts, my very creativity is ailing along with the sky.
A cool breeze, a gust of wind can invigorate me. I feel the power in the wind whipping against my hair, and breathe in that power.
What do you think, dear reader, when you think of air? When you look this image, what do you see?
