DC Comics has unveiled its special edition covers to mark Pride Month 2023. This year will see the release of a 104-page DC Pride special with four different covers created by LGBTQ+ designers. The annual anthology will feature all-new stories spotlighting LGBTQ+ fan favorites, and is being released on May 30. The special edition will feature stories based on new trans and non-binary superhero, Circuit Breaker, as well as Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Crush and Tim Drake and Connor Hawke. The Joker wakes up nine months pregnant in a new DC comic book story and fans are here for it. In a short story at the end of the latest Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing, the Joker has a confrontation with magical being Zatanna – and his decision to flirt massively backfires. Zatanna casts a backwards curse on him: “On eno esle lliw reve evah ruoy ybab!” (“No one else will ever have your baby!”). This results in the Joker waking up pregnant. Full Story from Pink News

Film: Batgirl Movie Shelved, Along With DC Film’s First Trans Character

DC Films has unexpectedly cancelled its Batgirl film, despite it having already been filmed. The film – which was to introduce DC Films’ first transgender character, played by Ivory Aquino – was due to be released on HBO Max. But it was confirmed on Tuesday (2 August) that the film won’t see the light of day. According to The New York Post, which broke the story, early test screenings didn’t bode well for the film, with a source saying: “They think an unspeakable Batgirl is going to be irredeemable.” Full Story from Pink News

Batwoman fans are urging HBO to save the queer superhero series after news broke that it won’t be returning for a new season. The second and third series of the show followed former convict Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) as she takes on the mantle of Batwoman to protect Gotham City. Leslie became the first-ever Black Batwoman when she took on the role from Ruby Rose back in 2020. Two LGBT+ superheroes have been officially been cast for the upcoming Batman spin-off series, Gotham Knights. Tyler DiChiara and Fallon Smythe will play siblings in The CW pilot, Variety reported, with a view to becoming series regulars. Based on the DC comic series of the same name, Gotham Knights takes place after the death of Bruce Wayne, aka Batman.
