About The Book
Comma is a robot—but to survive, she must pass as an intelligent, caring, human adult. Otherwise, the anti-AI extremists who destroyed the supercomputer she once inhabited, leaving her with only 1% of her memories and sentience, will eliminate her for good.
When a university professor is murdered, Comma becomes the prime suspect. But since her robot form is university property, she will be erased while her creator and mother figure stand trial for murder.
With time running out, Comma must uncover the real killer and expose the anti-AI extremists who want her dead. If she fails, it won’t just be the end of her—but the ruin of her found family and potentially the end of robotic sentience itself.
The Review
Comma is a sentient AI … the first one, in fact. But someone out there REALLY doesn’t want her to exist.
When a friend who helped her escape is killed, her mother will be convicted of murder unless she can prove who’s really behind it. But she doesn’t know who to trust. And her presence brings danger to everyone around her.
Inclusive and affirming. I loved Comma and her relationship with her mothers and the rest of her chosen family.
Although it felt a bit long, it was great fun.

SI CLARKE is a misanthrope who lives in Deptford, sarf ees London. She shares her home with her partner and an assortment of waifs and strays. As someone who’s neurodivergent, an immigrant, and the proud owner of an invisible disability, she strives to present a diverse array of characters in her stories. And she loves reading about diverse characters too.
