About The Book

The earth is hollow—a trackless primordial wilderness. It’s also the new front in the Great War. Here, the British spy Lucy Harker—Dracula’s daughter—must locate Britain’s missing vampire slayer—her own mother. Then she’s separated from her lover, the vampire spy Carmilla, and captured by Germany’s most brilliant scientist, the sinister Dr Krüger. Now, Agent Harker may discover her most dangerous opponents are on her own side.

The Review

This story is definitely a more direct continuation of the story started in The Adventure of the Dux Bellorum.  Cynthia Ward takes our intrepid heroine, Lucy Harker, on yet another action-packed escapade.  This time, she must rescue her own mother.

Like the previous stories in this series, the combination of elements is unique and surprisingly well blended into a page turner!  There are underlying messages about imperialism and social acceptance that are subtle but strong.

My favorite part of this installment was the magical and unexpected setting for the action.  I can’t spoil it, but it seems there is not a classic mystery, spy, sci-fi or fantasy reference that is safe from Ward’s skill and imagination.  This is a great addition to the series.

The Reviewer

In writing this bio I am taking a rare break from reading! I always have a book on hand just in case there is time to sneak in a chapter or two. As a military spouse and a mom of two boys, it is amazing how often I am hurrying up to wait. Luckily for me I don’t have a favorite genre so I get lots of fun authors to choose from. My education was in sociology and mental health counseling, so stories with strong character development are my favorites. Happily Ever After is the best part of romance for me because real life is hard enough.
