U=(N/T)M*G: Imminent

As I read this article, I didn’t realize all the pieces had started coming together. That humanity was really on the brink of finding life outside of our little half-evolved mudball. A dream so many have and labored toward about to come to fruition. The real interesting information, the bit that sucked me down the biological rabbit hole, was the many many ways life might manifest. Yes, science fiction has explored a wide variety of alien lifeforms, but I think, when it’s all said and done, the life we do find won’t be anything like we imagined. As a science … Read more

SPACE: Are We All Aliens?

Oumuamua

Life may have traveled to Earth from afar, aboard an interstellar visitor like the weird, cigar-shaped object ‘Oumuamua, researchers say. ‘Oumuamua, which zoomed through the inner solar system last fall, is the first confirmed interstellar object ever observed in our neck of the woods. But that doesn’t mean it was the first ever to get here — far from it, in fact. “We think that something like an ‘Oumuamua … there’s always one within about 1 AU of the sun at any given time,” planetary scientist Bill Bottke said last month during a panel discussion at the Breakthrough Discuss conference … Read more

Did You Know “Vampire Facials” Were a Thing?

blood face - pixabay

Last September, officials began investigating a spa in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for potentially exposing its clients to blood-borne infections through their “vampire” facials and other spa treatments. Now, the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) has confirmed that two clients of the VIP Spa contracted the “same” HIV virus, according to a statement. This finding “increas[es] the likelihood” that the infections resulted from spa treatments involving needles, officials said. One such treatment that the spa offered is the so-called vampire facial, which involves smearing a person’s own blood across his or her face after the skin has been sanded down … Read more
