U=(N/T)M*G: Moriarty

See that pretty dragon-scale Betta I set as the feature image? That’s the infamous Moriarty. He sits on my desk, my evil co-writer. Moriarty, while a great co-writer, is an evil asshole. I’m not kidding. He’s mean, flashy, and loves to fluff up every time I come close. He’s also an attempted murderer. The poor gold snail that shared his tank for a week had to be moved. I also have Mycroft, an aloof and beautiful Betta that sits on my nightstand, as well as the Baker Street tiger barbs, Watson and Holmes and Lestrade. They’re feisty, curious and love … Read more

REVIEW: “Renewal” Gets 5 Stars

Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words

Another great review for “Renewal” – this one from Melanie at Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words: I am such a fan of flash fiction, the ability to tell a complete story in 300 words or less. Renewal is Queer SyFy’s Fourth year’s collection of flash fiction and what an incredible winner it is. Like a library full of tiny jewels, Renewal‘s flash fiction is glorious in it’s presentation of the dizzying array of imaginative themes and world building by it’s host of authors… Such power, such beauty. And this collection is full of such haunting tales. As J. Scott Coatsworth … Read more

Sci Fi: Welcome to Octlantis

octopus

The idea of undiscovered underwater cities isn’t as far-fetched as you might think. It just turns out they’re built by octopuses. Earlier this month, scientists published a paper describing a site in Australia’s Jervis Bay, near Sydney, where 10 to 15 gloomy octopuses (yes, that’s really what they’re called) live at “high density” and exhibit “complex social interactions” towards one another. The species, also known as Octopus tetricus, communicate, fight and even “evict” one another from their dens in a settlement formed around exposed rock patches. In other words, it’s basically an octopus city, which biologists are calling “Octlantis,” according … Read more

Fans: Show Wonder Woman’s Bisexuality in Next Film

Wonder Woman

“Wonder Woman” fans want the upcoming sequel to honor canon and make the Amazonian warrior princess bisexual. Writer Greg Rucka confirmed that the Amazons of Themyscira engage in same-sex relationships in the comics. Gianna Collier-Pitts, GLAAD Campus Ambassador at New York University, penned the petition asking for that bisexual representation to be included in the films. “We are oversexualized and underrepresented. We are called greedy, dishonest, and confused. We are the least likely to come out and the most likely to suffer from depression and anxiety, on top of experiencing higher rates of sexual/intimate partner violence. We are made to … Read more
